Friends of the Poor

  • St Thomas More University Parish 100 Stinson Street Norman, OK, 73072 United States (map)

St. Thomas Moore University Parish invites local faith groups to join them on Thursday, October 2, at 7 pm where they will host Ingrid Delgado, National Director of Public Policy and Advocacy for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul USA as part of its Friends of the Poor Week. Ingrid will bring legislative updates from Washington DC and share ways for all of us to advocate for “the least among us” at every level; more important now than ever.

For those not familiar, St Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay ministry with more than 90,000 members nationwide and 4,500 conferences, including three in Norman-one at each Catholic church- who assist with emergency rent and utility assistance, homelessness, prevention, disaster recovery and other charitable works for people in need. Voice for the Poor is the advocacy arm of the Society at the local state and federal level.

The event is open to the public. Free parking will be available in the St. Thomas More lots off Jenkins, Stinson and Lincoln.
